Thank you for your interest in supporting our work! The late Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks lived in service to others as demonstrated by his civil rights activism, public service career, and work on many other causes to advance the welfare of others both in the United States and abroad.

The Hooks Institute's mission of teaching, studying, and promoting civil rights and social change is implemented by our programming which includes funding faculty research and community service projects; hosting conferences, symposia, and lectures; and promoting and recognizing local and national scholarship on civil and human rights. Our ultimate goal is to promote civil and human rights, civic responsibility, strong communities, and social justice.

Our programming is 100% funded from private funds. We need your financial help to sustain and expand our work by reaching our online fundraising goal of $25,000. Your donation will support the documentary, Duty of the Hour: The Life and Times of Benjamin L. Hooks and allows us to expand our work and better serve our communities both here in Memphis and beyond.

Your generous donation will help us reach our fundraising goal. As milestones are reached in increments of $5,000, five pieces of the puzzle will be unveiled, revealing a portion of an award winning photograph of Benjamin L. Hooks. Please check back as often as you like to view the various stages of this fundraising effort— be one of the first to see the full photograph!

Your investment will help us to continue building on the legacy of Dr. Hooks. Each donor will be acknowledged on our online "Building on the Legacy" donor wall. Your contribution shows your commitment to helping us create a more just world. For this, we say thank you.
